Grendel is largely unexplored, an uninhabitable world in the next orbit out from the human colony world of Beowulf.

Rescue Run introduces the world of Grendel and its conditions, and is a sourcebook for the small outpost run by the University of Alicia on Grendel, studying the violent weather and emergent life forms. Characters must make their way from Beowulf to Grendel, across a system under dire threat from Kaefer marauders and human raiders taking advantage of the situation. Once on Grendel, the characters must survive the next storm until they can get themselves and the students away from the world. A hidden threat puts everyone at risk.

The next two adventures in the series, Salvage Rights and Black as Pitch, further explore the world, including contact with a Pentapod enclave, a crashed human and nbsp; warship from a distant war, and the secret at the heart of Grendel, along with its and nbsp; 100,000 year history.

The Progenitors hid far more depth than anyone, Tradition or Technocrat, realized. Too long considered by others and mdash; and even themselves and mdash; as lab monkeys and cloistered researchers, their protective cocoon of isolation was ripped away by the Dimensional Anomaly. Forced by cataclysmic events, the Progenitors are injecting themselves back into a sick world.

The Union and rsquo;s surgeons and chemists have made their diagnosis, and it scares them: the Technocracy and rsquo;s diseased and about to tear itself apart. Traditions keep peddling snake oil treatments to a populace yearning for an easy fix. And there are worse things out there, cancers on the world. So the Progenitors must take the only sensible action: arm up and prep the OR.

A World Infected

The Masses are gobbling up the ideas behind biotechnology, medical advancements, cloning, and neurochemistry and mdash; nearly everything from the Convention and rsquo;s bag of tricks. But now the Progenitors are in the mix, frantic trauma surgeons elbow-deep in unwilling patients. and nbsp;Convention Book: Progenitors updates Mage: the Ascension with 21st century medicine, biotech, and desperate idealism.

Publisher: Wizards of the Coast

Hundreds of miles from the mainland, surrounded by dangerous waters, lies an island known only as the Isle of Dread. Dark jungles and treacherous swamps await those who are brave enough to travel inland in search of the lost plateau, where the ruins of a once mighty civilization hold many treasures - and many secrets!

The Isle of Dread is the first in a series of adventures for use with the D and amp;D Expert rules. The module is designed as an instructional aid to help novice Dungeon Masters design their own wilderness adventures. For character levels 3 to 7.

Included in the module are 13 maps of the isle, 16 new monsters, and suggestions for further adventures on the Isle of Dread. A special continent map, complete with background information, is also included.

The Isle awaits! Will you be able to find the lost plateau and discover the secrets of the Isle of Dread?

*****

Product History

X1: and quot; The Isle of Dread and quot; (1981), by David and quot;Zeb and quot; Cook and Tom Moldvay, was the first and quot;expert and quot; level adventure for Basic D and amp;D. It was released in January 1981 - both as a standalone module and packaged with the Dungeons and amp; Dragons Expert Rules (1981).

Two Editions. Adventures B1 to B4 (1980-82) and X1 to X2 were all produced using TSR's original full-color trade dress, with its flat-color background and its diagonal logo. Of them, only and quot;Isle and quot; was revamped and reprinted with the more professional trade dress that TSR began using in 1983 - which featured gradient backgrounds and a horizontal logo. The Acaeum reports this fourth printing of and quot;Isle and quot; was bundled with Frank Mentzer's BECMI edition of the Expert Rules (1983).

Origins. Parts of the outer island were adapted by Moldvay from things he'd run pre-TSR, possibly as part of the Known World campaign that he'd GMed in Ohio with Lawrence Schick. Cook created the interior of the island from and quot;whole cloth. and quot;

Pulp Inspirations. Historically, we think of the 70s and early 80s as a time of dungeon crawls, but Cook and Moldvay both frequently pushed another aesthetic: pulp adventure.

Cook specifically describes and quot;Isle and quot; as having a and quot;Lost World/Skull Island feel. and quot; It was one of two pulpy adventures he wrote at the time, the other being I1: and quot;Dwellers of the Forbidden City and quot; (1981), which centered on a lost city in the jungle. He'd later author two pulpy RPGs for TSR: The Adventures of Indiana Jones RPG (1984) and the Conan Role-Playing Game (1985).

Moldvay also had plenty of other pulpy experience. James Maliszewski thus identifies and quot;Isle and quot; as the first book in Tom Moldvay's Pulp Fantasy Trilogy. It's a pretty apt name, as and quot;Isle and quot; contains a dinosaur-filled island, X2: and quot;Castle Amber and quot; (1981) directly references the pulp writings of Clark Ashton Smith, and B4: and quot; The Lost City and quot; (1982) features a city beneath the desert sands.

The adventure's and quot;Skull Island feel and quot; means that it also also owed something to King Kong (1933). TSR would even more explicitly return to this inspiration with WG6: and quot;Isle of the Ape and quot; (1985).

Enter the Wilderness. D and amp;D was also moving away from the dungeons in another way, thanks to the D and amp;D Expert Rules, which introduced the idea of a wilderness and quot;hex crawl and quot; to D and amp;D. Here, players traversed a hex-delineated wilderness area rather than a dungeon. and quot;Isle and quot; was the first D and amp;D adventure to use this innovation. It even included a hex map for the players to fill in, which showed only the outlines of the Isle of Dread.

As a wide-open hex map, and quot;Isle and quot; was also one of the earlier sandboxes for D and amp;D; it offered a wide array of places for players to explore as they saw fit. Hex crawls were common in the expert-level D and amp;D adventures that followed, but somewhat rarer in AD and amp;D; sandboxes were almost unknown.

L1: and quot; The Secret of Bone Hill and quot; (1981) had a substantially smaller scale for its hex crawl, but maintained X1's sandbox nature. Gary Gygax's S4: and quot; The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth and quot; (1982) and WG4: and quot; The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun and quot; (1982) were theoretically hex crawls, but they focused on finding a specific locale. More frequently when AD and amp;D went into the wilderness, it instead focused on railroaded outdoor travels centered on sequential encounters. Like Gygax's two Greyhawk adventures, this resulted in adventures which were definitely not sandboxes.

Expanding the Known World. and quot;Isle and quot; worked hand-in-hand with the D and amp;D Expert Rules, which had introduced the Known World. However, and quot;Isle and quot; considerably expands what was found in the rules, which focused only on the Grand Duchy of Karameikos. and quot;Isle and quot; not only shows (and describes) nearby lands as far away as Glantri, Thyatis, and Ylaruam, but it also maps out the whole Sea of Dread - as well as the Isle itself, of course.

If the Expert Rules introduced the Known World, then it was and quot;Isle of Dread and quot; that expanded it into the full form that would be used for years thereafter.

New Monsters. and quot;Isle and quot; contains almost three pages of new monsters - many of them dinosaurs that hadn't previously been seen in Basic D and amp;D. Cook also introduced the monstrous kopru amphibians - which he described as part of his and quot;cthonian/pulp phase and quot; that also resulted in the aboleth appearing in I1: and quot;Dwellers of the Forbidden City. and quot;

Moldvay also created the racoon-like phanaton and the cat-like rakasta.

Future History. Paizo Publishing moved the Isle of Dread to Greyhawk with the publication of Dungeon #114 (September 2004), which included setting info, a poster map, and a 3.5e D and amp;D adventure and quot;Torrents of Dread, and quot; by Greg A. Vaughan. They later built a whole adventure path around the Isle of Dread: the and quot;Savage Tide and quot; ran from Dungeon #139 to Dungeon #150 (October 2006 - September 2007), making it Dungeon magazine's great swan song. Issue #139 (October 2006) featured a reimagining of the original cover to and quot;Isle and quot;, while issues #142 (January 2007) through #145 (April 2007) depicted the actual Isle.

More recently, the 4e Manual of the Planes (2008) named-checked the Isle of Dread as a Feywild location that sometimes and quot;falls and quot; into various worlds.

About the Creators. Moldvay and Cook wrote and quot;Isle and quot; at the same time they were revamping the entirety of the Basic D and amp;D game. Moldvay wrote the new Basic Rules (1981) and Cook wrote the new Expert Rules. The two had previously teamed up (sort of) to produce two of the four adventures in the A ( and quot;Slavers and quot;) series - which also included contributions by Harold Johnson, Allen Hammack, and Lawrence Schick.

and quot;Isle and quot; would be Moldvay and amp; Cook's last joint work.

http://www.rapidejdr.fr/product_info.php?products_id=113959

Publisher: Troll Lord Games

Beyond the comforts of home lie worlds of epic adventure.

More than Myths and Gods
The Codex Celtarum contains a veritable host of gaming material. Built around the complete mythological cosmos of the Celts, in it you'll find new spells for your druid, cleric, and illusionist. New monsters, including mountains of fey. New magic items. For the very bold, there are new powers for your characters, allowing your characters to become fey!

190 new spells
90 gods and monsters from the Celtic mythos
150 powers for the fey monsters and amp; characters (optional)

The Druids
Druids have surmised that before the present Universe there was a Disharmonious Void that once existed. Torn by destructive chaos and strife, it was devoid of any creative powers and life completely. Nothing could exist in this Disharmonious Void. It was death for the dead in essence and completely uninspired. A spark of Inspiration or Awen, called the Great Spark, blazing red and shaped like a thunder-bolt, tore its way through the blackness with fury. The Fire of Creation split the shapeless Void into the (as yet empty) Three Circles (Tr and iacute; F and aacute;ine) that were anchored around one magnificent, growing oak tree. This tree was the first in the Universe, and under its immense leafy crown hung golden acorns, swollen with potency.

A Celtic Cromlech
The druids dwelt in a world wholly apart from our own, a world that comes down to us in the stones of the cromlech, the wild burnings of the wicker man, the priests who called on ancient trees and fey to bless or defend them and a language of such haunting beauty that its echoes stir memories within us of a people we once were.

The Codex Celtarum delves into the myths of the Celtic peoples, the powers of the world around them, the monsters that hunted them, and the gods that watched over them. Its author, Brian Young, a scholar by trade, introduces the Celtic mythos like never before, exploring the depths of that world to recast it for the fantasy RPG Castles and amp; Crusades. Within the Codex Celtarum lies a wealth of information; gaming material that blows new life into the world of the fey, the druid, the ranger and all characters whose travels carry them through the wooded hills, broken crags and dark forests of our primeval imagings.

Expand your character!

With fey blood in your veins you too can possess the powers of the fey. Or even adopt new races for your game. The elder gods possessed powers of surpassing wonder and left a world with all manner of strange incarnations, those are yours to bring to life.

Chapter Breakdown

Codex Celtarum comes complete in seven glorious, fun filled, fact packed chapters. Chapter 1 covers a complete history of the Celtic world view. Chapter 2 delves into the world of fey. Chapter 3 presents races and monsters. Chapter 4 covers mountains of new spells and magical abilities. Chapter 5 tackles the lords of war. Chapter 6 looks at the gods themselves. Chapter 7 yields new material for the Castle Keeper.
